Aquatherm Sea Sock - for Skin on Frame & Folding Kayaks
Ideal with skin on frame & folding kayaks
Keeps you warm & dry and the inside of your kayak free from dirt & debris.
Made from durable, waterproof, Aquatherm, the Reed Chillcheater sea sock has taped seams
Adds safety – in the event of a wet exit the amount of water entering the boat is limited as the sea sock remains inside the kayak.
Can be used in a hard shell kayak too especially where bulkheads are not watertight.
Adds insulation for coldwater paddling.
Protects the kayak frame & skin from grit and water – the sand & dirt stays in the sock not your kayak.
After use simply remove the sea sock & wash (by hand or in the machine at 40º)
The "sock" is inserted into the cockpit opening and is secured to the cockpit coaming. The paddler sits inside the sock and fits the spray skirt over the coaming as usual. See the Nortik Navigator on the left.

Had this made from a template I sent to Reed. The fit is astonishingly good, so airtight good I have to ‘burp’ the kayak sometimes.
Have used it for sea work circumnavigating the Isle of Wight amongst other things.
Excellent performance, great customer service, fast delivery, good material, good workmanship. Good price.

Sea sock fits like a glove. Almost completely airtight, thus watertight. Great material (aquatherm), lovely accurate stitching, attention to detail.
Deck bag very solidly made. Practical and unfussy.

I second everything Alaska sea kayaker said. I'm also a Stateside paddler but in the lower 48, specifically New York City, where I paddle year round. One of my two Folbots is a Cooper, which is fast and light and, of course, has no bulkheads. I had given up paddling it outside the warm months but a guide friend who has trained and paddled throughout the British Isles told me about Reed and how good their sea socks and cold weather gear is. I've used my sock three times now, twice back in February when the water was down in the upper 30s F and before the pandemic began and again just yesterday (water temp 55 deg F). I have never felt safer in the boat, or warmer paddling it in cold weather. They were very helpful in answering questions I had during the measurement process. It came quickly and fit snug from the start. Love it, and it feels and looks high quality---beautiful seam/stitch-work on both sides of where the sock fits around the cockpit frame.

Purchased as a replacement for my Feathercraft Wisper's double-coated sea sock. The Chillcheater fits well - no bulky excess fabric, sheds dirt, is cozy, and very easy to put on. I have weakness in my hands so that is very important. Best of all, the new sea sock keeps my boat dry.....no condensation occurs inside the hull even when paddling glacial waters.
Can't say enough about Nigel and his terrific customer service. Helped me with getting all the measurements and delivered the finished sea sock to me in the US in only a bit over a week. Price was incredibly reasonable, too!

I ordered a Keyhole b for my Nautiraid and a custom made one for my AE1007. Both fit very well.

Excellent replacement, fits well and was bone dry. Much better than the original sock.
