Sea Kayaking
I think this is my third major purchase, this time a Paddle suit, with all the trimmings. I tried it out at Lee valley Sunday....without doubt the most comfortable dry suit I've had (I currently have three suits....don't ask!). turned it around in a week.
Just picked up my new Aquatherm Dry Cag and Spray Deck and couldn’t be happier! The build quality is outstanding — you can really tell it’s made to last. The fit is spot on, super comfortable without being restrictive, and it seals up perfectly without feeling too tight. What I really appreciate is how it strikes a balance: warm enough to cut the wind and spray, but not overly hot — ideal for paddling in NZ Northland’s milder climate. It’s clear a lot of thought went into both the design and materials. Highly recommended for anyone needing reliable, lightweight gear for all conditions!
Good fit, haven’t used yet, but have the separates which have worked well, so expecting good things!
I teach water rescue, as well as paddle, so spend a lot of time actually in water, and this is comfy and warm, fits well too.
On first try it fits perfectly. Really well-made. Comfortable to wear. It was also delivered really quickly to Australia which is amazing. I haven't worn it on the sea yet as a bit too warm here still.
Felt nice and warm, but not too hot. Looking forward to using them.
EPOXY PUTTY / PRO POWER GAFFA TAPE REPAIR KIT
I have had the short sleeve version of this for about 5 years now. I’m fed up replacing latex wrist seals on other makes of long sleeve cags so went for this the long sleeve version in blue. As expected I love this top! The fit is great, wrists work wonderfully and the inside of the material feels great on skin if you wear a short sleeve rash vest. Great to be able to get ventilation when wanted. Workmen ship is superb. Highly recommended, it’s a great bit of kit.
This is just a perfect solution that I can use most of the season . Saving my Kokatat for the winter time and money we’ll spend.
I have used Storm Cags for decades and they are an essential bit of sea kayaking equivalent I now always have a Reed one in my kayak and often carry a spare for clients.
This is lightweight compact and durable.
I especially like the reflective silver lining - which could easily be used to attract attention in an emergency.
Simple to cut the cuffs to size if needed.
Better than many more expensive brands on the market. Comes in XL on request - recommend.
These are a perfect addition to my kayaking equipment.
Keeps my feet warm and dry when launching and getting out. Great for wearing around camp too which means I can live in my wet kayak shoes and save space in my kayak on expedition by not needing dry shoes.
I always use Reedchillcheater Transpire Fleece garments under my dry suit. In the UK I find them warm enough on their own. However during my expeditions in East Greenland I sometimes double up.
They are quick drying warm and don’t smell - unlike many other brands of base layers.
I also carry a spare set including socks and hat for emergencies.
My clients are encouraged to wear them as I then know they are going to be warm and comfortable.
Highly recommended.
Reed were absolutely great at figuring out that I had made an error in the order( inconsistent measurements) They e mailed me to clarify, and I still got the spray deck within a week. It fits perfectly. Can’t wait to get it wet
The socks are water proof but advise to ware beech shoes to protect socks and feet as soft bottoms. I stand in the river a lot rowing getting boats in and out of the water and often ware normal socks inside to keep feet warm which are bone dry when I get changed.
